No ‘CRACKS’

Capital Recreation is in business to make recreation accessible to all. I am not here to tell you the what, the who, and the when. I am here to support and encourage your positive behaviors. I am a Certified Recreational Therapist breaking down barriers to leisure and recreation participation. This blog is here as a tool to spread my personal thoughts and ideas. But most of all, to create community!

Where am I now?

What do I want to achieve?

How will I get there?

Whenever I start something new or readjust my goals, I ask myself the three questions above. I ask these questions to put myself in the best possible position to succeed. I know where I am today and where I want to go in the future. Though the main question I ask myself all the time is, why do I fail? My answer, typically lies within the cracks of the third question, how will I get there? Though, before I move on, I need to ask a fourth question. What allows me to succeed?  To put it out there, I succeed because I set specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely goals along the way. An example of this could be my personal goal to meditate for 30 minutes by the end of 2021. My first quarter goal is the be able to meditate for 10 minutes by April 1, 2021. A first month goal of being able to meditate for 5 minutes at the end of January and 7 minutes by the end of February. My weekly and daily goal is to meditate daily for just 3 minutes a day in week 1, 4 minutes in weeks 2 & 3, and 5 minutes in week 4. It might not look like a lot. However, fine tuning and finding what works for me is where the magic happens. What cues am I going to give myself? Is it the yoga mat at the front door? A reminder on my phone? Whatever it is, I am going to make it specific and special.
