It is commonly known, summertime hobbies are learned and earned in winter. With the first two months of the year in the bank, it is a great time to hone in on the things that bring you joy and happiness. Over the course of the next two months, I would like to emphasize and highlight helpful tips and tricks (not hacks) that you’ll be able to withdraw from the bank and use when needed. I would like to start with talking about going from the planning to action phase in reaching for your personal goals and things you aspire to achieve and accomplish. Next, I want to highlight some helpful tips in maintaining what you’ve built upon thus far. As always, a friendly reminder the following information is for informational purposes only. If you’re looking for additional help, reach out and work with a professional.
Let’s imagine the year to be a construction project from start to finish. This can be remodeling your home or building a skyscraper. Now that you have your vision in mind, we can start from the ground up. If January and February are akin to setting up a construction site, March and April are compared to building and setting up your frame. If you’ve done this work in the past, I suggest you reinforce that which you already have in place. Let’s go! In my previous posts at the end of last calendar year and beginning of this year I talked about setting up and placing goals for the year ahead. You took this time to get your permits, clear your space, and get your materials in place. Now that you have everything for your first phase, it is time to take the needed steps to get things in place for phase two. This is going to require a team, attention to detail, and leadership to keep the project on-time and everyone to be on the same page. These next few months are going to test your ability to make the proper adjustments to ensure that you arrive at your next stops with the goods required to continue your journey.
Outside of your construction zone things are easy, peaceful, and predictable. I’m not saying that you aren’t facing any struggles or challenges. Though the ones that you are, you have seen them in the past and have the tools at the ready to stop and take care of the problem. Additionally, with the warmer months approaching we tend to add more to our schedules, and inevitably increasing daily demands and stress on ourselves and our schedules. Which is why it is important to make sure that we have a personal mission statement solidified and anchored.
Before we can move on, it is important to ask the following questions:
1- Do I have my mission statement? if so, is it in a prominent place that I will see daily?
2- Have I been living to the values of my mission statement?
3- What can I do to reinforce my mission statement and make myself stronger?
4- What are my next steps in the coming days and weeks to stay on track?
Once we have these questions answered we can start building additional layers and start getting shape to our major construction site. To oversimplify, we can only move on to stage two once we meet the criteria for stage one. We first need the ability to crawl before we can walk.
Using evidence-based practices can help and assist in reaching your goals and dreams in a safe and effective way.
