Finding Heart in Community

It is hard to believe that four years have passed since we started our Tuesday morning run community. Over the course of the years, we’ve had our ups and downs. However, we never lost the heart in pursuit of being the best versions of ourselves. With it being heart health month, I would like to highlight the positive impact that community has had on my life. I encourage you, go do something for your heart today! Please note, the following information is for informational purposes only. If you’re looking for additional help, reach out and work with a professional.

There aren’t many things in my life that are a constant or that have stuck with me for more than ten years. Some that have stuck by my side are, my personal running, cooking, and eagerness to learn. Having these positive constants have provided me with anchors when I’ve felt adrift, north stars when I’ve felt lost, and motivation when it’s been lacking or lost. They’ve been the bedrock foundation to my every day.

For this post, I want to highlight the benefits the running community has provided me. As the quote goes, to go fast, go alone, to go far, go together. Although I’ve known this for a long time, I must admittedly say that I’ve only truly implemented it a few years ago. Though, I kinda wish that I started to live with this ethos long ago. It’s been the best thing for me. It’s given me great vitality and determination to continue going when the going gets tough. Being part of the running community has allowed me to be a giver and receiver. I’ve been a giver in the sense that when another member of the community needs a pick-me-up, I and others can be there to listen and support. I’ve been a receiver too for the moments I need motivation and accountability. Further, being in the community has allowed me to meet new people (who turn into friends), learn, and most importantly share a good time (and laughs too).

Without my community, I wouldn’t be sitting here plucking away at this keyboard sharing and supporting. Without my community, who knows if I would be pursuing positive and healthy habits. Without my community, who am I?

This might pose thoughts and questions for you and the communities that you are subscribed to. Bottom line, community has changed me for the better. If it can change me…. it will probably change you too.

In closing, it’s all in community. If you’re looking for a safe, welcoming, and positively strong community, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. As community we can grow, evolve, and stay strong. With an abundance mindset, the sky is the limit.
