It is time to close out the calendar year of ’22 and get ready for ’23. Whether you use the terms new year resolution, improved goals, new year new me, it is a great time to do some of the inner work that will lay the foundation for the coming days, weeks, and months. This is the time of year where we lay our foundations and principles for our immediate, upcoming, and distant selves. It is the perfect time to look back and reflect from inside out. You could do this at any point of the year. Though having the motivation of a new year, being on the same train or boat as your family, friends, and colleagues makes it easier to contemplate, implement, and execute your personal goals or missions. Like an iceberg, we must implement broad, wide goals so we have a foundation for the future. When we can take this first step of implementing an idea, goal, or motivation is when the doors will open for opportunity and success.
There is much evidence and literature that lines up with the above idea. When we set ourselves up with strong firm foundational goals, we are more likely to persevere when we hit a speed bump or detour on the way to success. Therefore, we must have a foundation that will withstand any high-tides, choppy waters, and hot sunny days. It starts with being strong from within.
