Simplify today to make tomorrow better

Capital Recreation is in business to make recreation accessible to all. I am not here to tell you the what, the who, and the when. I am here to support and encourage your positive behaviors. I am a Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) breaking down barriers to leisure and recreation participation. This blog is here as a tool to spread my personal thoughts and ideas. But most of all, to create community!
It is very often that I hear people say if only this, or only that … then I will start with my new hobby, habit, or goal. Today, I want to give you some real-world experiences that can and will make your tomorrow better. In fact, it could even make today better!
First things first, you need to know what you want and what you want to achieve. Eh! You don’t really need to know what you want to achieve, because your personal journey will dictate that. Though, you should know where you want to start. Next, you will need to make a game plan. What do I need? When am I going to do it? And how much time do I need? These are vital things you need to set yourself up for success.
Knowing what you need and having it ready to go, in my opinion is that biggest hurdle to getting started. Having a time set for when you’re going to set on your journey for the day, will enable you to plan the rest of your day accordingly. Please note, everyday need not to be the same. Meaning to say, on Sunday you might go for a walk at 5:00pm, Monday a 7:00am workout, and Tuesday a lunch-break bicycle ride. You get the idea. Mix up your routine to fit your schedule. Knowing when you want to do it is of upmost importance. Finally, you should know how much time you need to allocate for your activity. Knowing how much time you need from getting ready to getting back to getting ‘back to your desk’ will help in reducing any stress while you’re doing your thing.
I know from personal experiences that when I follow these steps, I am more likely to see success, and less of missing the mark. I know you are reading this because we share some commonalities, and you are looking to continue to grow and be your personal best!
Bottom line:
- Know what you want to do
- Time of day when you will do it
- How much time you will need
Last but not least share your journey with a friend, family member, or colleague. For bonus points remember to celebrate along the way! Have fun! Enjoy the journey! Because isn’t that the reason why we do this all?
I always love hearing from you and your personal journey. Share your moments of growth and success on social media using the hashtag #shlomotrained
Until next time – peace, and virtual fist bump going your way!
