Why we need each other as we emerge from a year of COVID, stay at home orders, and isolation

Capital Recreation is in business to make recreation accessible to all. I am not here to tell you the what, the who, and the when. I am here to support and encourage your positive behaviors. I am a Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) breaking down barriers to leisure and recreation participation. This blog is here as a tool to spread my personal thoughts and ideas. But most of all, to create community!

Since the start of the pandemic, we have all gone through tremendously challenging and difficult times. We have all endured the many ups and downs, chaos, and confusion. However, if there is one bright spot — it has really allowed me to think deep and focus on the important things in life. For me they include, focusing on my relationships with spouse, family, and friends. It too has allowed me to focus on things I enjoy doing such as cooking, reading, and exploring the great outdoors. Not taking anything for granted, I feel extremely blessed that I’ve been able to have these varied experiences and to do new things.

Now, more than ever we need one another. We need each other, to lean on one another – as we exit from the trenches and move forward together on the path of recovery and new normalcy. We all need an outstretched arm, a friend, colleague, or family member to lean of for support and encouragement. There is no bushwhacking this one alone. The only way forward … is together!! It is not about remaking the wheel. It is about, pumping your tire to the correct PSI and rolling with full steam ahead. It is about, keeping it simple and finding the one or two things you enjoy doing to maintain sanity in a crazy and unpredictable world. It is about, you having enough lift to take flight and finding the right people to cruise at 30,000 feet. The ride upward will be bumpy and filled with turbulence. With a strong support system, we can move upward and forward. It is about, doing one thing today for a better tomorrow!

This is what we are all about. It is about, saying YES I CAN!! And saying, LET’S GO!! This is our community strong and united. Supporting one another to be the best versions of who we can be. We are not here to tell you what you should be doing – rather we are here to support you in your personal journey to do the things you love to do. That is — to move well, feel good, and have a strong sense of accomplishment … this is the place for you. Join our community today!

Let’s continue to grow upward and forward, challenge each other, and give virtual high-fives and fist bumps along the way. Finally, I always enjoy hearing from — share your story today using the hashtag #shlomotrained
