The Path To Personal Success Requires ‘Making Adjustments’

Capital Recreation is in business to make recreation accessible to all. I am not here to tell you the what, the who, and the when. I am here to support and encourage your positive behaviors. I am a Certified Recreational Therapist breaking down barriers to leisure and recreation participation. This blog is here as a tool to spread my personal thoughts and ideas. But most of all, to create and uplift our community!

Say it with me, one step, one breath, one repetition. This has been a mantra of mine in my day to day living for the last five years, and I don’t plan on giving it up. In fact, I want to share it with you because of the tremendous results I’ve gotten since my implementation. Every task I attempt to complete always starts with taking a single step forward, and asking myself, what is one thing I need to do to get started? I know, when I do that one thing, it will propel me forward to the next step. I don’t try to take more than one, because all I have are two feet supporting me, and I can only take a single step at a time. For if I try to bite off more than I can chew, I don’t get anywhere. So, taking a single step is all that is needed.  Now that I’ve started with my first step, it is time to take a breath. I am not particularly talking about a physical breath in this area. I am referring to taking a moment to step back and evaluate. It is about getting myself into the present moment and enjoying the one step which was just taken and the one step I am about to take. I then go ahead and complete this with one repetition. The repetition is a two-step process. It combines the one step and one breath phases. This is where fun kicks in! Say it after me, not all repetitions are created equal. Yes, you just read correctly. Not all repetitions are created equal. What do I mean? How you approach your repetitions later down the line – will not be the same way they were approached in the early phases of your journey. I can say this, because of lived experiences. Like most things, you learn new information along the way, you adjust to the new information, and your actions mirror what was just learned. Which is why it is so important to for me to keep ‘Making Adjustments’ along the way. Like Albert Einstein has been famously quoted for, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Making adjustments is the process in which we pivot from old to new, from novice to afficionado, and from stagnant to growth.

Keeping an open mind and open to heart to learn, understand, and to adjust will enable you to become your best self. In my next post I will focus on … Remembering your why.

If you or somebody you know is interested in learning more, I would love to hear from you.
